The Temper Trap announces first studio album in a decade; title track out now

Alternative rock band The Temper Trap has announced the July 10 release of “Sungazer,” marking the group’s fourth studio album and its first new full-length record in 10 years.
The announcement coincides with the release of the album’s title track and the news that the band will support Muse on a North American tour throughout July and August.
“Sungazer” follows a four-year hiatus during which the band members pursued individual projects and relocated across the globe. Lead singer Dougy Mandagi moved to Berlin and Indonesia, while other members focused on film scoring, teaching, and solo material. The band eventually reconvened in Melbourne to record the new sessions.
“With time apart and much personal growth from us all, ‘Sungazer’ feels like it’s captured the most pure collection of music we’ve ever made,” the band said in a joint statement. “Being back into the studio together really felt like coming home.”

The title track, “Sungazer,” is a personal tribute from Mandagi to his son, Ziggy. The song transitions from a moody, trip-hop-inspired ballad into an expansive rock outro. It joins previously released singles “Giving Up Air,” “Into The Wild,” and “Lucky Dimes,” which have already entered the top 30 on U.S. alternative radio charts.
The upcoming North American tour with Muse will include stops at major festivals, including Outside Lands in San Francisco and Summerfest in Milwaukee. The band recently returned to U.S. television with a performance of “Giving Up Air” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Formed in 2005, The Temper Trap rose to international prominence with their 2009 debut “Conditions,” featuring the multi-platinum hit “Sweet Disposition.”
“Sungazer” is currently available for pre-order and pre-save via major digital platforms. The album will be released through the band’s longtime label partners.
