The LEGO Group has debuted the LEGO SMART Play Gateway at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, showcasing interactive booth experiences powered by the brand’s responsive SMART Play technology. Located at booth #2829 from July 23 through July 26, the installation features portals into themed environments centered around the LEGO Pokémon and LEGO Star Wars franchises.
The booth design utilizes a retro-futuristic terminal concept to showcase the SMART Brick, a piece containing embedded technology that reads physical tags and minifigures while producing lights, sounds, and motion. Visitors can explore a scaled-up LEGO Pokémon Lab featuring interactive partner Pokémon or visit a recreation of the Mos Eisley Cantina equipped with sound effects and character photo opportunities.
Alongside the interactive gateway, the company introduced several new product reveals scheduled for release later this year. Highlights include the 1,701-piece LEGO Icons Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Bridge set launching Sept. 1, the 1,367-piece LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade set arriving Aug. 1, and a 12-character LEGO Minifigures Shrek Series mystery box collection launching Sept. 1.
The event schedule features dedicated programming, including a panel celebrating the 15th anniversary of LEGO NINJAGO on July 23, complete with voice cast appearances and in-booth signing sessions. Additional on-site activities include a daily convention-wide scavenger hunt for exclusive prizes, collectible travel-themed souvenirs for booth visitors, and a display showcasing a new NINJAGO footwear collaboration with Crocs.
Full product details, pre-order options, and event schedules are available online through the official LEGO website’s convention portal. The company also confirmed plans to expand its Shrek product lineup with additional sets planned for 2027.
