The Hidden Parlor Society announced the upcoming August 2026 opening of its new venue, The Hidden Parlor. Located on Park Street in downtown Andover, the space is designed as a dedicated regional destination for American Mahjong players.
The venue will feature 11 custom Mahjong tables with seating capacity for up to 44 players, which includes two automatic shuffling tables. The facility plans to offer open play by reservation six days a week during daytime and evening operating hours, with later plans to expand service to seven days a week.
The physical space will include custom-designed branded tiles, signature racks, premium mats, and specialized tea cups and wine glasses. Beyond the active playing tables, the layout incorporates community lounges for reading, a quiet room suitable for professional tasks or virtual calls, and an on-site retail boutique selling game sets and gifts.
The upcoming fall calendar features a structured programming lineup for various age groups and skill levels. Scheduled activities include beginner lesson series, guided play sessions, six-week adult leagues, a junior league for players ages 7 to 14, and partnerships with local American Mahjong instructors.
The venue will offer an annual access structure alongside individual guest reservations as space allows. According to organization representatives, the establishment recognizes the historic origins of the game in China as well as the generational contributions of Jewish American communities in shaping the modern American format.
