Musician Susanna Hoffs has released “This Island,” the second single from her upcoming album of original music titled The List. The 12-track record is scheduled to release on September 18 through Baroque Folk Records.
Produced by Hoffs alongside CJ Camerieri, the album was recorded live in Hoffs’ Los Angeles home. The project focuses on personal storytelling drawn from her life experiences and covers themes of heartbreak, an empty nest, and new relationships.
Hoffs co-wrote “This Island” with Camerieri, Ny Oh, and Grant Milliken. The recording features a backing ensemble that includes Ryan Lerman on guitar, Spencer Zahn on bass, Benny Bock on piano, JT Bates on drums, and horns from Camerieri, alongside background vocals by Ny Oh and Arielle Kasnetz.
The album also includes guest collaborations with Rufus Wainwright, Dan Wilson, Edie Brickell, Greg Leisz, Desure, Jesse Harris, and Larry Goldings. The release follows the album’s first single, “Casablanca,” which was inspired by the film Casablanca and an encounter with the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir in 1988.
To support the release, Hoffs and her band will perform live across the United States. Tour dates include a five-night residency at Café Carlyle in New York City, festival appearances at Sea.Hear.Now, and shows alongside Billy Idol.Click here to listen to “This Island”
