The high-protein ice cream brand Protein Pints is entering the frozen novelty category with the launch of Protein Pops. These new ice cream bars are dipped in a quinoa-studded milk chocolate coating, marking the company’s first major format expansion since launching two years ago. The brand currently distributes its original pint products across more than 15,000 retail locations nationwide.

The new product line comes in four flavors, including Caramel Crunch, Vanilla Crunch, Peanut Butter Crunch, and Mint Crunch. A limited quantity of the bars is currently available directly through the company website. A retail rollout will follow at Sprouts Farmers Market locations nationwide on June 29, followed by Harris Teeter stores in late July.

Each bar contains 10 grams of complete protein, all nine essential amino acids, and between 180 and 190 calories. The products are gluten-free, made with natural ingredients, and contain no artificial sweeteners. They are formulated to contain at least 75 percent less sugar than traditional ice cream options.

Company co-founder and CEO Paul Reiss stated that the new format was designed to fit into busy schedules while delivering the protein and ingredients customers expect. Reiss noted that the launch coincides with summer ice cream season. The brand expansion aims to tap into the growing frozen novelty market, which is projected to grow through 2035 as consumers look for portioned, on-the-go treats.

Two childhood friends founded the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based company during their recent college years. The core product line includes pint containers that feature 30 grams of protein per pint. Additional retail expansions for the newly introduced bars are planned for various retail channels later this fall.
