Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO brings European ham tradition to San Diego Food and Wine Festival

Hand slicing

Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO will participate in the San Diego Food + Wine Festival from November 6 through November 8. As part of the European Union co-funded promotional campaign “The EU Gem Ham,” the brand will offer live tastings and culinary experiences across three signature festival events.

The product will feature during the Icons + Legends Opening Night on Friday, November 6, at the JULEP Venue in San Diego. Italian norcino Davide Carminati will host a dedicated tasting station featuring live hand-slicing demonstrations for arriving guests.

Tastings will continue on Saturday, November 7, at the Grand Tasting and on Sunday, November 8, at the Grand Fiesta, both held at Embarcadero Marina Park North. Carminati will provide freshly sliced samples throughout both days, introducing festival attendees and culinary professionals to the traditional European ham.

The festival appearance serves to strengthen the brand’s presence in the United States market and build connections with American chefs and industry professionals. The outreach effort forms part of the broader EU Gem Ham initiative designed to increase consumer awareness of European food products carrying Protected Designation of Origin certification.

Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO is produced exclusively in the municipality of Carpegna within the Marche region of Italy using a slow curing process. The PDO designation guarantees regional origin, authenticity, and compliance with strict traditional production standards.
