The Chicks announce theater tour for 20th anniversary of Taking the Long Way album
The Chicks are returning to the road this fall for their Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour. The theater-focused run celebrates their 2006 studio album, which topped the Billboard 200 chart and won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
The tour begins at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on September 30. The trio will visit several major cities, including Chicago, New York City, Nashville, San Antonio, Austin, Seattle, and San Francisco. The schedule concludes with a two-night engagement at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, on November 1 and 2.
Tickets are officially on sale now through the band’s website at Thechicks.com/tour. This general public sale follows an artist presale that required fans to sign up by May 31.
During the upcoming concert dates, Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer will perform the entire groundbreaking album live for the first time. The album features the lead single “Not Ready to Make Nice.” Each night will close with a selection of other hits from across their catalog.
The tour marks another major milestone since the group returned from a nearly 14-year hiatus. In July 2020, they released their fifth studio album, Gaslighter, via Columbia Records. That 12-track project was co-produced by singer-songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff.
