Bam Good Time now lists more than 500 upcoming American mahjong lessons in 29 states on one free page. The listings are available at bamgoodtime.com/lessons and are meant to help new players find where to go next.
Every class comes from the calendar of a club or teacher that runs its classes on Bam Good Time, more than 80 in all. Each listing shows when and where the class meets and links to that club’s own sign-up page. The page refreshes from the clubs’ calendars every day.
“I kept hearing the same thing from people who’d just learned to play: ‘Now where do I go?’ So we made one free map where you can find a game, a class, or a tournament near you. Nobody should have to learn mahjong and then sit home with their tiles,” said Heather Cannon, founder of Bam Good Time.
The lessons come from a much larger community. More than 400 mahjong clubs in 44 states use Bam Good Time to run sign-ups, waitlists, payments, and league scoring, with more than 30,000 members on their rosters. Those clubs have more than 1,700 games and classes on the calendar in the next 30 days.
The site also lists upcoming tournaments, and organizers can add one for free without creating an account. The company designs American mahjong tile sets with artists and makes a free online game, Bam Good Time Mahjong Online, for iPhone and iPad.
Bam Good Time runs clubs, venues, leagues, scrambles and tournaments on one platform, on the web and in apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. Its built-in assistant, Ask Heather, answers an organizer’s questions about events and players and can email members for them. Clubs can start free.
