Pianist and producer Kiefer Shackelford has announced the September 25 release of his Blue Note Records solo debut, Memory Bomb. The album was co-produced with longtime collaborators Shibo and CARRTOONS, and is available for pre-order in physical and digital formats.
The project features a range of guest vocalists, rappers, and instrumentalists, including Nate Smith, Walter Smith III, Cisco Swank, Rae Khalil, and Amber Navran. The announcement coincides with the release of lead single “NewLevels NewDevils,” which features Tony Stone, Erick The Architect, and CARRTOONS.
A San Diego native and UCLA jazz graduate, Kiefer previously released projects through Stones Throw Records, including Happysad and It’s Ok, B U. He has worked with artists such as Dr. Dre, De La Soul, and Anderson .Paak, and is also a member of the Blue Note collective FATHERS.
In support of the new release, Kiefer will host a curated festival titled Over The Breaks at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles on September 18 and 19. The lineup includes performances by GENA, CARRTOONS, Luke Titus, and Shibo.
Following the festival, Kiefer will embark on a Fall North American tour beginning October 1. Ticket sales and additional event details are published on his official website.
