Old Forester has announced the release of Triple Char Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky, the newest addition to its limited 117 Series. The release marks the first Old Forester expression crafted entirely from whiskey distilled at the brand’s Main Street distillery location in Louisville, Kentucky.
The bourbon was aged in barrels that received three times the length of char compared to standard Old Forester specifications. The extended barrel char process was designed to intensify the oak interaction, creating a spirit with increased spice and oak character.
Bottled at 115 proof in a 375 mL size, the limited release carries a suggested retail price of $64.99. Official tasting notes outline a profile featuring pecan praline, apple, and stone fruit on the nose, followed by baked apple cobbler, cinnamon, and oak char on the palate.
The 117 Series first launched in 2021 as a platform to highlight experimental releases, specific barrel selections, and distinct production techniques. Previous releases in the collection include 1910 Extra Extra Old, Whiskey Row Fire, and High Angels’ Share.
Triple Char is available in limited quantities directly at the Old Forester Distillery on Main Street and through select Kentucky retailers. Further information regarding the release is available on the producer’s website.
