Brown-Forman announced the 2026 return of King of Kentucky, a high-proof, single barrel straight bourbon whiskey aged for 14 years. Drawn from two production lots totaling 99 barrels, the limited release was distilled and matured at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.
The selected barrels aged on the third floor of Warehouse I and the first floor of Warehouse L, yielding proof levels between 125 and 135. Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo stated the 14-year maturation period gives the selected barrels the bold profile associated with the brand.
Each bottle is filled, sealed with wax, and numbered by hand before being packaged in a custom display canister. Individual labels display production details, including the proof, age, barrel number, serial number, lot number, and warehouse location.
The limited-quantity release is available in select markets nationwide with a suggested retail price of $399. Distribution remains restricted to designated retail partners due to the small yield of the barrel selection.
Established in 1881 as a Kentucky straight bourbon, King of Kentucky was acquired by Brown-Forman in 1936 and discontinued in 1968. Brown-Forman revived the label in 2018 as an annual high-proof expression honoring the historical brand.
