The LEGO Group has officially revealed its latest lineup of LEGO Super Mario building sets during the annual gamescom trade show in Cologne, Germany. The updated collection introduces official LEGO minifigures of characters from the Super Mario and Mario Kart video game universe.
The introduction of minifigures marks a design refresh for the product line, centering the sets around character roleplay and story-building. The company first teased the addition of minifigures and a 2027 release window during MAR10 Day celebrations earlier in the year.
Among the newly announced items is Mario’s Pipe Jump, a set designed for children ages 6 and up. The set features a new Mario minifigure jumping out of a green pipe, along with a lever mechanism to catapult a Goomba figure.
The partnership between The LEGO Group and Nintendo began in 2020 with interactive building sets. The upcoming wave expands the collaborative line to include environments, vehicles, and figures inspired by both main series Mario titles and Mario Kart.
According to Patrick Otley, Design Manager at The LEGO Group, the addition of minifigures is intended to give fans more freedom in how they construct and play out their own stories. The new LEGO Super Mario sets will officially launch on Jan. 1, 2027, through official retail channels, brand stores, and select global retailers.
