Naomi Jane released the official music video for her single “Pumpkin Eater” on Friday, marking a new creative chapter for the country-pop singer-songwriter. The track, originally released February 27, blends sharp satire, arena-ready hooks, and twang-infused country rhythms with modern pop sensibilities.

Written and directed by Naomi Jane and filmed in Santa Barbara County, California, the video transforms the chant-ready line “Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater” into a cinematic, pumpkin-laden road trip. The visual, described by Naomi as a “deadpan slapback,” follows her playful quest across locations including the Guadalupe Sand Dunes and Fitzpatrick’s in Solvang, parodying a revenge fantasy while maintaining humor and absurdity.

“I wanted the video to feel like a revenge fantasy turned road movie, but still completely in on the joke,” Naomi said. “The funniest part is that none of it was actually shot in Ireland; we built the whole world in Santa Barbara County with a truly concerning amount of fake pumpkins.”

Produced and mixed by Adam Zelkind, the single combines live, organic energy with precise pop production. Fiddle by Jimmy Mattingly, a longtime collaborator with Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire, grounds the track in authentic country instrumentation while maintaining Naomi’s contemporary edge.

The song gained viral attention on TikTok via the #PumpkinEaterChallenge and #CheaterCheater, quickly becoming a Gen-Z singalong anthem. Naomi described the track as a personal statement: “Instead of writing a sad breakup song, I used satire as my revenge. He didn’t deserve a ballad; he deserved a slapback. I want people to feel happy. Like, I’M FREE.”

“Pumpkin Eater” represents Naomi’s first full embrace of country-pop. Twang-tinged guitars, foot-stomping rhythms, and her soaring mezzo-soprano merge storytelling rooted in emotional truth with hook-forward pop sensibilities. Critics have previously praised Naomi’s work, including her singles “IDWK” and previous viral hits, for blending emotional honesty with playful energy.

Born in Manhattan and raised between New York City and Southern California, Naomi Jane is a classically trained three-octave mezzo-soprano and multi-instrumentalist. With more than 11 million streams, 17 million video views, and 100,000 monthly listeners, she has built momentum through viral challenges, 770 playlist placements, and recognition from the International Songwriting Competition.

“Pumpkin Eater” signals the start of a bold new era for Naomi Jane, combining her cinematic ambition with a fully realized country-pop sound.
