Mt. Joy has released their latest single, “Is Joy Easy,” a reflective and emotionally layered track that explores the nature of joy amid anxiety and personal struggle, as the band prepares for a major North American tour.

Structured in two parts, the song shifts between the tension of anticipation and the fleeting clarity of living in the moment. The track originated from a mantra aimed at combating anxiety, evolving from the question “What if you’re great?” into a more contemplative idea: “What if joy is easy?”

Frontman Matt Quinn said the song was shaped during a challenging period marked by personal loss and a prolonged battle with depression.

“In what’s been a very difficult winter for me personally, through loss and a long battle with depression, this song arose as an attempt to use that mantra in a different way: What if joy is easy? What if it happens all the time?” Quinn said. “Less a destination and more the privilege to be then and there. The part right after the sweaty palms. Maybe it’s BS — but it brought us this song. Hope it brings some joy, the world could use it.”

The release follows the band’s 2025 album “Hope We Have Fun” and arrives as Mt. Joy marks 10 years together with an extensive 2026 North American tour. The run includes headline performances at major venues such as Madison Square Garden in New York City, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, and TD Garden in Boston, along with stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, and other cities.

The tour builds on a successful year in which the band sold nearly 200,000 tickets nationwide and sold out prominent venues, including The Greek Theatre in Berkeley and the United Center in Chicago.

Known for their blend of folk-rock and introspective storytelling, Mt. Joy has gained a reputation for immersive live performances that foster a strong sense of connection with audiences.

The band also continues their philanthropic efforts, donating $1 from every ticket sold to charitable organizations. The initiative builds on more than $700,000 already raised nationwide.

With “Is Joy Easy,” Mt. Joy offers a contemplative perspective rather than definitive answers, encouraging listeners to reconsider joy not as something to pursue but as something that may already exist in everyday moments.
