As cooler weather approaches, homeowners preparing their property for winter are encouraged to address rodent prevention alongside routine fall maintenance tasks. According to the University of Minnesota Extension, mouse and squirrel activity increases during autumn as rodents actively seek warm shelter inside homes, sheds, garages, and campers.

For property owners, unexpected rodent infestations can lead to significant out-of-pocket costs. Most standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage caused by rodents, treating pest control and repairs as routine, preventable maintenance responsibilities rather than covered financial losses.

To provide a proactive option, Kansas-based manufacturer Natural Environmental Solutions, Inc. offers Morgan’s Repellent products designed for seasonal application in enclosed and semi-enclosed spaces. The company utilizes a patent-pending carrier system that infuses essential oils into porous volcanic pumice, offering product duration for up to 90 days when used as directed.

The company’s Mice & Rats formula uses a 25 percent active essential-oil mixture, while the Squirrel Bloc formula uses a 30 percent active essential-oil formulation. Active botanical ingredients include peppermint, cinnamon, garlic, clove, cedarwood, rosemary, and thyme, which release vapors through the pumice carrier into targeted environments like attics, RVs, vehicles, and barns.

Company representatives state that repellents should serve as part of a larger, comprehensive fall prevention strategy. Property owners are advised to inspect structures for potential entry points, seal accessible openings, remove available food sources, and monitor stored equipment or undisturbed spaces regularly.

Natural Environmental Solutions, Inc. will present its technology at PestWorld 2026 from October 20 through October 23 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Demonstrations will highlight how carrier materials, placement, and airflow impact active-ingredient output using instrument-based metering devices.

Following national consumer launches on Amazon.com and Walmart.com earlier this year, the manufacturer is encouraging property owners to implement rodent control measures before infestations establish themselves over the winter months. The product line is currently available online through nationwide e-commerce platforms.
