Michaels has declared August as Fine Art Month, introducing a series of free in-store events, online workshops, and an expanded inventory of art supplies. The initiative aims to support both experienced artists and beginners through hands-on creative programming across its stores and digital platforms.
The retailer is hosting weekly in-store activities throughout the month. Free drop-in classroom sessions run every Tuesday and Wednesday evening, allowing participants to work on personal projects while testing materials from various art brands. Guided art projects and live product demonstrations take place every Sunday afternoon.
In addition to in-store programming, Michaels is offering free live online classes three evenings a week. Led by instructors, these virtual sessions cover instruction in drawing, acrylics, watercolor, portraiture, and figure drawing, culminating in a showcase event at the end of the month.
The company is also rolling out hundreds of new products online and in retail locations. The expanded selection features paints, airbrush tools, markers, colored pencils, and artist-grade paper surfaces from manufacturers such as Liquitex, Winsor & Newton, Faber-Castell, and Strathmore.
Alongside the new product releases, Michaels is offering month-long promotions and discounts across its fine art inventory, including canvas and sketchbook sales. The retailer is also hosting a social media supply giveaway in late August.
