The non-profit foundation created by the rock band Metallica is expanding its national workforce education program to more than 90 schools. All Within My Hands announced its eighth year of the Metallica Scholars Initiative with a commitment of over $3.3 million, marking the largest grant cycle for the organization to date.
The funding will bring 18 new community colleges in the United States into the program this fall. Fifteen of the incoming schools will receive $75,000 to enhance career and technical education programs, while three schools will receive $50,000 for specific equipment purchases.
The initiative is also expanding internationally for the first time through a partnership with the Capital City College Group in the United Kingdom. A grant of $250,000, or £186,000, will establish the program across vocational tracks in London to help aspiring tradespeople enter the workforce.
The workforce program focuses on traditional trades such as welding, plumbing, and electrical work alongside evolving fields. The upcoming academic year will support training in nursing, automotive repair, maritime manufacturing, firefighting, agricultural pathways, and optical systems technology.
The American Association of Community Colleges continues to partner with the foundation to manage the expansion. Since launching in 2019, the initiative has provided career training and skills education to 13,000 community college students across the United States.
The current expansion is expected to reach approximately 4,000 new students domestically and more than 1,000 learners in the United Kingdom. The combined growth represents an estimated 40% increase in the overall student body supported by the program.
Corporate partnerships with Carhartt, Wolverine, CNH Construction, and Upstaging, Inc. have been renewed for the eighth year of the initiative. The foundation has also added ServiceTitan as its newest corporate partner to support the ongoing trade education programs.
