London Records has announced that it will release 40th anniversary editions of the Bananarama studio album True Confessions on August 28, 2026. The upcoming milestone release features newly remastered audio, expanded formats, collectibles, and new remixes.
The original 1986 album became the group’s most commercially successful release, earning a Gold certification in the United States and a Platinum certification in Canada. The album featured the global hit single “Venus,” a pop remake of a 1969 Shocking Blue track produced by the production trio Stock Aitken Waterman.
The chart-topping single reached the number one spot on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Dance Charts, alongside achieving top ten placements in 20 countries. The track marked a sonic shift for band members Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward, transitioning the group from their early style into a phase of successive chart entries.
The anniversary collection will be issued across multiple physical configurations, including a picture disc vinyl for the first time and a limited-edition transparent red vinyl version. An expanded double-vinyl package will pair the remastered original tracks with classic and contemporary 2026 remixes by producers Richard X, The Alias, and Luke Mornay.
A specialized three-CD version will compile the original album tracks, regional B-sides, and period-specific extended dance remixes. The official Bananarama online store will additionally carry individual compact disc editions featuring archival audio commentary from each band member regarding the 1986 recording sessions.
