Jesse Lynn Madera releases new single ‘Woke Up in LA’ ahead of US tour

Singer-songwriter Jesse Lynn Madera has unveiled her latest single, “Woke Up in LA,” an intimate exploration of loneliness and resilience. Released on April 17, the track draws on Madera’s personal transition from New York City to Los Angeles, focusing on the isolation of navigating a new city without a support system.
The song, which Madera describes as a “back-pocket” track she has held onto for over a decade, examines the experience of feeling alone while surrounded by crowds. The lyrics reflect the persistence of love through difficult periods, which Madera refers to as “the dog days.” She noted that the artist’s role is to reflect the truth to help listeners feel understood through the act of self-understanding.
“‘Woke Up in LA’ has been a back-pocket song for over 10 years, waiting for its right time,” Madera said in a statement. “It is a testament to resilience and the persistence of love, even through ‘the dog days.’ It’s the artist’s job to reflect the truth, to hopefully help the listener feel seen and understood through having the courage to try to understand ourselves.”
The release arrives as Madera begins her U.S. tour, which launched April 16 in Houston and is scheduled to conclude May 1 at The Cutting Room in New York. Following her domestic dates, Madera will make her United Kingdom debut from May 7 through May 28, supporting musician Colin Blunstone on a 16-date tour including stops at Manchester’s Stoller Hall and London’s Union Chapel.
