Oheka Castle, the 127-room French Renaissance château located on Long Island’s Gold Coast, will be sold at auction through Concierge Auctions in cooperation with The Modlin Group. Bidding for the National Register landmark is scheduled to open and conclude live on October 27 at The Dominick in New York City.
Constructed between 1914 and 1919 for financier Otto Kahn, the estate is the second-largest private residence ever built in America. Following a $40 million restoration, the 112,895-square-foot property operates as a wedding venue and private estate set on 23 acres in Huntington, New York.
The estate features 34 guest suites, a grand library, a large ballroom, and formal gardens designed by the Olmsted Brothers with contributions by Beatrix Farrand. Oheka Castle has served as a filming location for Citizen Kane, Succession, Royal Pains, and Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” music video.
The auction offering also includes an adjacent 5.13-acre parcel at the southeast corner of the property. The Town of Huntington has approved and entitled this adjacent land for the development of 95 luxury condominium residences.
Located 40 miles from Midtown Manhattan, Oheka Castle sits five minutes from the Cold Spring Harbor Long Island Rail Road station. The transaction will also participate in Concierge Auctions’ Key For Key giving program to support home building for families in need.
