Haribo of America has appointed Jon Hughes as president and chief executive officer as the company expands its retail footprint in the United States. Hughes previously served as managing director for Haribo U.K. and Ireland.
The executive transition coincides with the launch of the company’s first retail locations in the American market. A new store opened at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, New York, on Friday, August 7.
A second retail location is scheduled to open at Wrentham Village Premium Outlets in Massachusetts in early August. These openings bring a retail concept to the United States that the company previously operated across European markets.

The outlet locations feature a customizable pick-and-mix candy wall, seasonal products, limited-time treats, and brand merchandise. The store design incorporates interactive elements and displays centered on the company’s product line.
The retail expansion reflects a broader effort by the confectionery manufacturer to increase direct consumer engagement and brand visibility. The company continues to produce its traditional gummi products while introducing new flavors and retail formats in the U.S. market.
