Four-time Grammy nominee Grace Potter released her new single, Spacewalking Woman, on Oct. 2. The song was written through a long-distance collaboration between Potter on Earth and NASA astronaut Jessica Meir aboard the International Space Station.
The two first met in 2015 when NASA invited Potter to film a music video at the Johnson Space Center for her song Look What We’ve Become. After watching Meir complete a spacewalk during her current mission as commander of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 mission, Potter incorporated specialized space terminology and acronyms into the track’s lyrics.
The single release follows Potter’s seventh studio album, Trespasser, which was released in August through Thirty Tigers. Produced by Eric Valentine, the 10-track project features contributions from Benmont Tench, Nick Bockrath, Tim Deaux, Matt Musty, Indya Bratton, Ricky Dover Jr., Kurtis Keber, and Jordan West. The album builds upon the storyline from her 2023 release, Mother Road.
Potter will join Zac Brown Band on their Love and Fear Tour starting in Knoxville, Tennessee. The tour schedule includes stops at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, and two nights at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Ticket details and additional tour schedule information are available on Potter’s website.
Potter is an American singer and songwriter with a career spanning seven studio albums. Spacewalking Woman is currently available as a standalone single across digital music platforms.
