Disney Imagineers to use Adobe Firefly Foundry for park concept art and three dimensional prototyping

Adobe has announced a collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development to integrate generative artificial intelligence into the design and pre-production visualization pipeline for Disney parks and experiences. The partnership utilizes Adobe Firefly Foundry, a platform that allows businesses to build customized AI models based on their own proprietary brand assets.

The custom models are trained directly on existing Imagineering design catalogs and built on top of commercially available Adobe Firefly models. This approach is designed to ensure intellectual property fidelity and brand consistency by avoiding models trained on scraped internet data. Imagineers will use these tools directly within their existing Adobe software applications and workflows.

The collaboration introduces a sketch-to-image model that translates rough hand-drawn concepts into fully rendered two-dimensional concept art. Additionally, a specialized custom image model will generate asset designs for specific Disney franchises, including Mickey & Friends, Frozen, Moana, Lilo & Stitch, and Cars.

A three-dimensional modeling capability is also included to convert two-dimensional renderings into detailed digital prototypes. This feature allows design teams to plan physical builds, estimate necessary materials, and coordinate project details with engineering departments before physical construction begins.

The technology will be utilized across various properties, including theme parks, hotels, and cruise lines. The automated tools are intended to shorten the creative cycle from initial sketches and concept art to detailed three-dimensional renderings and construction-quality computer-aided design models.
