Sony Electronics has announced the launch of the RX10 V, marking the fifth generation of its all-in-one camera series. The newly introduced model retains the structural form factor of the product line while integrating an updated processing engine and dedicated focus tracking systems. The device is scheduled for market availability starting in August 2026.
The camera features an integrated Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* large-aperture lens that covers a focal range from 24mm to 600mm, providing a 25x optical zoom capability. Internal hardware includes a 20.1-megapixel 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor paired with a Bionz XR image processing engine. This combination supports still image capture and video recording options up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second.
An independent processing unit drives the newly added real-time recognition autofocus system. The technology uses automated subject identification to recognize and track people, animals, birds, insects, automobiles, trains, and airplanes. For human subjects, pose estimation programming maintains tracking functionality even when faces are obscured by helmets, sunglasses, or movement away from the lens.
The device achieves blackout-free continuous shooting speeds reaching up to 30 frames per second. The system calculates autofocus and autoexposure tracking up to 60 times per second to maintain focus during rapid subject movement. Users can also engage a speed boost function to increase burst rates mid-sequence during active shooting sessions.
The body utilizes a button layout and grip architecture derived from the Alpha mirrorless camera series. Compositions can be managed via a 0.5-type Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 3.68 million dots or an updated 3.0-type LCD monitor. Power is supplied by a Z-series NP-FZ100 battery, which yields approximately 630 shots per single charge cycle.
Additional features include a dust- and moisture-resistant exterior casing alongside dual-band wireless connectivity options. The built-in software contains twelve customizable creative look presets and an expanded dynamic range optimizer function. Sony Electronics established a suggested retail price of $2,299.99 in the United States and $2,899.99 in Canada.
