Ralph Lauren curates commemorative American Icons stamp series for USPS

The U.S. Postal Service will mark the nation’s 250th anniversary with a new collection of 13 commemorative stamps curated by designer Ralph Lauren. This project is the first time the Postal Service has permitted an individual to curate a complete official stamp issuance.
Titled American Icons, the collection features 13 photographs chosen from Lauren’s archive and visuals that have inspired his work. The images represent national values such as freedom, equality, and opportunity.
The individual stamp designs feature distinct American symbols. These include the American flag, a baseball glove used by Jackie Robinson, a weathered pickup truck, a dog, the Empire State Building, and a barn.
Other designs feature a Diné (Navajo) blanket woven by Naiomi Glasses, a teddy bear, a lighthouse, a hamburger, a racing sailboat, and wild horses. Each of these 12 stamps contains the title “American Icons” alongside “FOREVER” and “USA” in white text.
A 13th stamp sits in the center of the pane, surrounded by blue denim and framed by the other designs. This central stamp features a knit flag designed by Lauren with text reading “1776 to 2026.”
The stamps will be issued in panes of 13. As Forever stamps, their value will remain equal to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price.
The Postal Service will also release the 2026 U.S. Flag Mail Use Stamp. This smaller, definitive stamp features a detailed photograph of a knitted U.S. flag taken from Lauren’s flagship sweater design. It will be sold in panes, booklets, and coils for widespread everyday mail use.
An official dedication ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, at 11 a.m. Eastern at the James A. Farley Post Office Building in New York. Elvin Mercado, the Postal Service’s chief retail and delivery officer, will serve as the dedicating official.
On the same day as the dedication, Ralph Lauren will debut a commemorative capsule collection. The items will be available at select retail stores globally and online. The capsule includes a classic polo shirt, a ball cap, and a sweater featuring the reimagined 2026 U.S. Flag stamp.
