Demi Lovato releases deluxe edition of ninth studio album

Grammy-nominated singer Demi Lovato released the deluxe edition of her ninth studio album, “It’s Not That Deep (Unless You Want It To Be),” on Friday. The expanded project via Mercury Records includes eight new tracks, featuring the single “Low Rise Jeans” and collaborations with artists Cobrah and Rose Gray.
The deluxe release follows the critical success of the original album and adds new material including “Love Controller,” “Fantasy,” and “Joshua Tree.” The album continues a dance-oriented, late-night aesthetic that has earned praise from critics. Variety recently noted that Lovato “has become one of the singular vocalists of her time,” while The Clash stated the artist is currently “at her best.”
The album launch coincides with Lovato’s first North American headlining arena tour in nearly eight years. The tour continues Friday night with a sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The “It’s Not That Deep Tour” opened last week to positive reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter describing the debut as “triumphant” and noting a “new air of confidence” in the singer’s performance.

“Her voice, a potent instrument best showcased on heart-wrenching ballads, never wavered,” reported USA Today, which characterized the tour as a “well-earned victory lap.” During earlier stops, Orlando Weekly noted that Lovato remained true to her “undeniably powerhouse vocals” while debuting unreleased material like “Low Rise Jeans” for live audiences.
The tour, produced by Live Nation, is scheduled to visit several major markets including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Dallas before concluding May 25 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Tickets for the remaining dates are available through the artist’s official website.
Lovato has amassed over 50 billion streams worldwide throughout her career. All nine of her studio albums have debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, with four of those projects surpassing one billion streams on Spotify. In addition to her music career, Lovato is a two-time New York Times best-selling author and an established actor.
