Comedy Central and Paramount Plus announce broadcast schedule for South Park season 29

Comedy Central and Paramount Plus have finalized the broadcast and streaming framework for the 29th season of the animated franchise South Park.
The upcoming season will officially premiere on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on linear cable via Comedy Central. New episodes will roll out globally on the Paramount Plus streaming service, with next-day availability confirmed for viewers in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Following the mid-September premiere, the network will shift to a bi-weekly broadcast schedule for the remaining episodes. Additional new installments are locked in to air on consecutive alternate Wednesdays: September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11, and November 25, 2026.
The programming announcement comes as the long-running property experiences sustained viewership metrics and unprecedented industry recognition. South Park concluded 2025 as the number-one ranked show on basic cable within the key adults 18–49 demographic. The performance of the preceding 27th season generated the highest average demographic audience share for the franchise in 27 years, alongside its highest total viewership in six years.
The franchise has also secured consecutive historic designations from major television industry bodies. The project was selected for the 2026 Television Academy Honors, marking the first time an animated program has ever received the distinction. Additionally, the Producers Guild of America recognized the property as the first animated show to compete in its Best Episodic Comedy category.
Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will continue to serve as executive producers alongside Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II. The physical production team consists of producers Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell, and Vernon Chatman, with Christopher Brion managing the creative direction for South Park Digital Studios.
The property originally launched on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997, following the initial underground release of the animated short “The Spirit of Christmas.” Over its three decades on the air, the production has collected five Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program out of 20 total nominations, alongside honors from the American Film Institute, the Peabody Awards, and the Critics Choice Association. The franchise will officially mark its 30th anniversary in 2027.
