Bulleit Frontier Whiskey has announced Bulleit ’87, a new core expression that combines bourbon and rye whiskeys into a single blend. The release marks the brand’s first addition to its core lineup since the launch of Bulleit 95 Rye in 2011. Named in honor of the year the distillery was founded, the product is designed specifically to be sipped neat or poured over ice.
The whiskey components are each developed for their specific role in the final spirit. The bourbon is distilled, barreled, and aged in Shelbyville, Kentucky, while the rye is distilled and aged in Indiana before being transferred to Shelbyville. Both spirits are aged for a minimum of four years and finished separately for four to six weeks in barrels containing toasted American oak and French oak staves prior to blending.
Bottled at 90 proof and 45% ABV, Bulleit ’87 features aromas of caramel and brown sugar alongside notes of baking spices and oak. The profile finishes with a combination of sweet and spicy warmth. The spirit is packaged in the distillery’s signature slanted bottle, updated with a bright blue label.
To support the release, the brand is organizing a sampling tour visiting more than 20 events across 15 cities, including New York, New Orleans, Austin, Los Angeles, and Louisville. The events will pair the whiskey with local food offerings structured around complementary dual flavors. Updates regarding tour stops are being shared through the brand’s social media accounts.
Bulleit ’87 carries a suggested retail price of $29.99 for a 750mL bottle, matching the pricing of Bulleit Bourbon and Bulleit 95 Rye. The new expression will roll out to select retail locations nationwide starting in September 2026.
