Musician Billy Strings released his new single, “10,000 Miles From a Friend,” on August 21. The song serves as the latest preview of his upcoming 16-track album, So Much for Goodbyes, which releases August 28 through Reprise Records.

Produced alongside T Bone Burnett, the album reflects a personal period of grief following the death of his mother, Debra Apostol, who created the original artwork for the record. The physical release will feature vinyl variants in black, wood grain, and sun core, plated and pressed at Paramount Pressing & Plating in Denver and cut by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl in Memphis, Tennessee.

The album release coincides with the sold-out Ionia Freak Fair taking place August 28 and 29. The festival event features performances from Strings, Sierra Hull, Greensky Bluegrass, and additional artists.

Strings recently received six nominations at the 37th Annual IBMA Awards and recorded a performance for Season 52 of Austin City Limits on PBS, scheduled to air later this fall. He won his third Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for his previous release, Highway Prayers, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.

His upcoming fall headline tour includes stops at venues such as Ball Arena in Denver, the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Pechanga Arena in San Diego, and CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore.
