The Historic West Bottoms district in Kansas City will host its Boo in the Bottoms event during First Friday Weekend from October 2 through October 4. The daytime festival combines vintage shopping, street entertainment, and seasonal activities across 13 blocks of historic buildings.
Daytime offerings include trick-or-treating at participating stores, fire pits for roasting s’mores, and drinks from the Full Moon Street Bar. On Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., instructor D3 Stepper will lead free dance instruction teaching the choreography to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
More than 30 stores, restaurants, and venues will participate, with general shopping hours set for 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Family-friendly haunt characters will roam the streets for photos from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, alongside a special KC Collectors Spooky Plant Sale on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The event transitions in the evening to the opening of the Beast and Edge of Hell haunted attractions on Friday, October 2. The two haunted houses have 13 operating nights scheduled throughout the month of October, with ticketing and schedule details available on their respective websites.
The West Bottoms district hosts monthly First Friday Weekend events throughout the fall and winter seasons. Following the October event, the district will host Blessings in the Bottoms from November 6 through November 8, followed by Bows in the Bottoms starting December 4 through December 6.
