Paramount+ has greenlit a sequel event series to the 1990s teen comedy film Clueless. Alicia Silverstone will reprise her role as Cher Horowitz and serve as an executive producer on the project.
Production for the series is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in 2027 under CBS Studios. The story picks up 30 years after the original film, following Cher as a successful business owner navigating her daughter’s high school years.
The series is written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss. Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original 1995 film, will also serve as an executive producer alongside original film producer Robert Lawrence.
The original Clueless film recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a cast reunion screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The movie was also added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
The upcoming event series will premiere globally and exclusively on Paramount+. Paramount+ has also recently announced other original series, including Laird, Fear Not, 9/12, and Discretion.
