Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit will return to Moulin Rouge! The Musical for a final limited engagement playing the role of Christian. The strictly limited run consists of 15 performances from Tuesday, August 18 to Saturday, August 29, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City.
Tveit originated the role of Christian in the show’s world premiere and on Broadway, earning a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and an Outer Critics Circle honor. Following his 15-performance run, Christian Douglas will return to play Christian for the show’s final Broadway performance on Sunday, August 30.
The actor’s broad career includes theatrical credits such as the title role in the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, Catch Me If You Can, Next to Normal, Wicked, and Hairspray. On screen, he appeared in Tom Hooper’s film adaptation of Les Misérables, as well as television series including Earth Abides, Schmigadoon!, Grease: Live, Graceland, and Gossip Girl.
Directed by Alex Timbers with a book by John Logan, Moulin Rouge! The Musical won ten 2021 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The production features choreography by Sonya Tayeh and music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Justin Levine.
Global production companies under Carmen Pavlovic and Gerry Ryan AO OAM for Global Creatures, along with Bill Damaschke, produce the Broadway show, which is based on the 2001 film by Baz Luhrmann. Tickets for Tveit’s final run and the closing performance are available online and at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office.
