The Cape Playhouse, recognized as the longest continuously operating summer theater in the United States, has launched its historic centennial summer season. The opening production, Nat Zegree’s Mozart to Pop Chart, began its run of performances on Wednesday, June 3. The venue is located at the Cape Cod Center for the Arts at 820 Main Street, Route 6A, in Dennis, Massachusetts.
The production was created by and stars singer and pianist Nat Zegree, a recurring performer at the venue who previously appeared in Million Dollar Quartet and The History of Rock ‘n Roll. Directed by Kenneth Ferrone, the fully realized theatrical concert explores the historical and contemporary musical traditions that shape modern music. The performance features a cast of Broadway singers and musicians performing a wide variety of musical works.
The onstage company includes vocalists and instrumentalists Olivia Dorschel on reeds, Iliana Garcia providing vocals, and Ryan Guerra contributing vocals and guitar. The ensemble also features Lisa Helmi Johanson on vocals and violin, Bithyah Isreal on cello, and Jamie Mohamdein performing vocals and bass. Vocalist and violinist Tora Nogami Alexander and drummer Matt Spencer complete the performing group for the seasonal concert.
