The Cape Playhouse has announced the complete casting and creative team for its upcoming production of the musical Into the Woods. The show features a book by James Lapine and a score composed by Stephen Sondheim. The production represents the first time in the venue’s history as the longest continuously operating American summer theater that it will stage this specific theatrical work.
The production is scheduled to run for a limited engagement of 22 performances from June 24 through July 11 under the direction of Artistic Director Eric Rosen. Actor Javier Muñoz, recognized for his previous work in Hamilton and In the Heights, will lead the cast in the role of the Baker. He is joined by Nick Adams performing as Cinderella’s Prince and the Wolf, Delphi Borich as Cinderella, and Alex Finke playing the Baker’s Wife.
The principal cast also includes Christine Toy Johnson as Jack’s Mother, Erik Lochtefeld as the Mysterious Man, Cinderella’s Father, and the Narrator, Madison Mosley as Little Red Riding Hood, Joe Serafini as Jack, Pearl Sun as the Witch, and J Savage as Rapunzel’s Prince. The ensemble and supporting cast features Becky Alex, Jaina Rose Jallow, Emma Rose Johnson, Ray Robinson, Leeanna Rubin, and Renee Shohet.
The offstage production team is led by Music Director Robert Frost and Scenic Designer Jack Magaw. Properties are designed by Christina J. Garner, with costumes by Annie J. Le and hair and wig design by Bobbie Zlotnik. Lighting layout is managed by Kat C. Zhou, sound design is handled by Elisabeth Weidner, and casting operations were overseen by Stephanie Klapper.
The narrative of the musical intertwines several traditional childhood fairy tales, exploring characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and Rapunzel. Director Eric Rosen has led the theatrical institution since 2023, having previously directed regional productions of Waitress, Anastasia, and Tick, Tick… Boom!.
