Social Distortion has released “The Way Things Were,” the third and final advance track from their long-awaited eighth studio album, Born To Kill. The album is scheduled for release on May 8 via Epitaph Records.

The new track follows the release of the anthemic “Partners In Crime” and the album’s title track. Born To Kill marks the end of a 15-year hiatus between studio albums for the band. Co-produced by frontman Mike Ness and Dave Sardy, the 11-song collection features guest appearances by Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Lucinda Williams, with cover art collaborated on by Ness and Shepard Fairey.

Social Distortion will support the new release with an extensive North American tour. The trek includes a rotating lineup of support acts, with The Descendents and The Chats joining the tour from late August through the final show on Oct. 3 in San Diego.
