Rhino High Fidelity releases limited-edition audiophile reissues of classic albums

Dusty Springfield’s Dusty in Springfield

Rhino High Fidelity has expanded its premium audiophile vinyl series with limited-edition reissues of three celebrated albums: Dusty Springfield’s Dusty in Memphis, Cher’s 3614 Jackson Highway, and Joni Mitchell’s Court and Spark.

Each release is cut directly from the original master tapes by audio engineer Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at the Optimal pressing plant in Germany. The reissues feature glossy gatefold packaging with “tip-on” jackets and newly authored liner notes. Each title is strictly limited to 5,000 individually numbered copies and is available exclusively through the Rhino website and select international Warner Music Group retail stores.

Springfield’s Dusty in Memphis, originally released in 1969, marked a soulful musical departure for the British pop icon. Recorded at American Sound Studio under the direction of producers Jerry Wexler, Tom Dowd, and Arif Mardin, the album paired Springfield’s vocals with the “Memphis Boys” house band. Though the landmark pop and R&B fusion initially peaked at No. 99 on the Billboard 200 chart, it has since been inducted into both the Grammy Hall of Fame and the National Recording Registry.

Cher utilized the same Wexler-Dowd-Mardin production trio for her 1969 Atco Records release, 3614 Jackson Highway. Named after the street address of the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, the album features Cher performing alongside the studio’s legendary session musicians, the “Swampers.” The tracklist showcases her distinctive contralto voice through gritty, soulful interpretations of material written by Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, and Dr. John.

Mitchell achieved both critical and commercial success with her 1974 album, Court and Spark, which signaled her transition from folk music toward a jazz-inflected pop style. Recorded with the jazz-fusion ensemble the L.A. Express, the album became the most successful release of Mitchell’s career, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and generating her highest-charting singles, “Help Me” and “Free Man In Paris.”

Court and Spark earned three Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year, and won the award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for the song “Down To You.”

The Rhino High Fidelity series draws from the extensive Warner Music catalog to reissue seminal albums across rock, pop, jazz, soul, and other genres, focusing on high-quality audio and archival-grade packaging.
