New Balance has announced the release of the Made in USA 2040v5, a new footwear silhouette designed to showcase the capabilities of the brand’s domestic manufacturing facilities. The model combines premium materials, advanced tooling technologies, and complex assembly methods.
The original 2040 model was introduced in 2012 to serve as a flagship design for domestic craft. Since its initial debut, the line has functioned as a testing ground for updated techniques and technological development within the company’s American factories.
Brian Lynn, global vice president of lifestyle product at New Balance, stated that the team focused on craft, performance, and material integrity to create the design without relying on trend-driven ideas or compromises.
The shoe features Horween nubuck leather across the foxing, toe, and mudguard, along with debossed finishes and custom TPU branding components. Underneath, the design incorporates a full-length carbon fiber plate, a secondary medial carbon plate, and a cushioning system that combines FuelCell, ABZORB SBS, and ENCAP technologies.
The Made in USA 2040v5 will launch exclusively in North America on Aug. 20, 2026, on the company website and through select retail locations at a suggested price of $400 USD. A global release will follow beginning in May 2027.
Products in the New Balance Made in USA line contain a domestic value of 70 percent or higher. The domestic collection accounts for a limited portion of the company’s total sales in the United States.
