Country singer-songwriter Mackenzie Carpenter has released a new single titled “Kinda Want Your Man” through Big Machine Records. The track was co-written by Carpenter alongside Chris Tompkins, producer Jamie Moore, and Jonathan Hutcherson.
The new track is an acoustic ballad that explores themes of heartbreak and loneliness in a barroom setting. The song joins Carpenter’s recent musical releases, including “Heart That Don’t Break,” “High Pony,” and “All In Already,” with additional music expected in the coming months.
Hailing from Hull, Georgia, Carpenter first developed her musical background by writing songs with her brothers and singing in church. She released her 13-song debut album, Hey Country Queen, which was named among Holler’s Best Country Albums of 2025.
In addition to her solo recordings, Carpenter works as a songwriter for other country music artists. Her co-writing credits include Megan Moroney’s “I’m Not Pretty,” “Indifferent,” and “You Had To Be There,” as well as “I Wish You Would,” a duet featuring Midland.
Carpenter was nominated for 2026 ACM New Female Artist of the Year and has accumulated over 100 million career streams. She is currently performing on tour supporting Jason Aldean and Riley Green, with an upcoming date supporting Brad Paisley in Corpus Christi, Texas, scheduled for October 9.
