Newell Brands, the maker of Ball home canning products, has introduced a limited-edition home canning kit curated by chef David Chang. The beginner-friendly set is designed to help first-time home cooks start preserving seasonal food.
The timing of the launch coincides with the peak of canning season. It comes as more consumers turn toward hands-on hobbies and seek practical ways to preserve seasonal flavors at home.
Included in the kit are four 16-ounce Ball mason jars, a three-piece utensil set, and the Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving. The set also features an exclusive Korean Hot Pickle Mix recipe created by Chang that is only available with the purchase of the kit.
Chang noted that he initially found canning confusing until he realized it offered a way to capture and hold onto flavor at its peak. He stated that opening a preserved jar in the middle of winter helped spark his enthusiasm for the practice.
The release taps into a growing interest in non-digital activities and traditional skills. A 2026 survey conducted by Talker Research indicated that 84% of Americans have incorporated analog lifestyle choices into their daily routines.
Waylon Good, vice president of brand management, highlighted that the Ball brand has supplied home canning products for more than 140 years. He stated that the partnership aims to remove guesswork for a new generation of home cooks.
