A pop-up exhibition celebrating the virtual band Gorillaz has opened at the Agger Fish Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Titled House of Kong, the event runs daily through the morning of Sept. 28, leading up to the group’s performance at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 29.
The installation chronicles the career of band members Murdoc Niccals, 2D, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle. It traces their trajectory from their debut release Tomorrow Comes Today to their ninth studio album, The Mountain.
Inside the venue, visitors can view the original 1969 Chevy Camaro used in the band’s Stylo music video. The vehicle remains on site throughout the run of the installation for photo opportunities.
An accompanying gift shop offers an array of items spanning the entire Gorillaz discography. Retail offerings include collectible line drawing t-shirts, camo hoodies, custom bomber jackets, caps, tote bags, mugs, posters, patch sets, guitar picks, and stickers, alongside The Mountain capsule collection.
The gift shop operates daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Sept. 28 with free admission to the public. Entry to the main exhibition space requires advance reservation and ticket purchases.
