Disneyland Resort has officially welcomed its one billionth guest through the gates of its California theme park. The milestone coincides with the resort’s ongoing 70th anniversary celebration and arrives on the eve of America’s 250th anniversary.
The honorary one billionth visitor was identified as Andres Robles, an eight-year-old from Arizona who was at the park celebrating his birthday. Robles and his parents, Alejandra and Jose Robles, participated in a brief ceremony at the Main Street U.S.A. train station platform alongside Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
The family assisted park officials in unveiling an updated entrance sign that now reads “Population 1,000,000,000” before continuing into the venue. As part of the milestone event, the family received a VIP tour guide, a look inside Walt Disney’s private apartment, and access to the newly opened Soarin’ Across America attraction.
The original theme park first opened its gates to the public on July 17, 1955, under the direction of founder Walt Disney. Over the last seven decades, the Anaheim property has expanded from a single park into a resort complex featuring two separate theme parks, three hotels, and the Downtown Disney District.
Jill Estorino, president of Disneyland Resort, noted that the achievement marks a remarkable milestone for the generations of families who have visited the venue. Estorino stated that the original park remains a timeless symbol of storytelling and that leadership plans to carry that legacy forward for future visitors.
