Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings will release Turnstiles – 50th Anniversary Edition on Dec. 11, 2026. The 4CD and Blu-ray box set celebrates the 50th anniversary of Billy Joel’s 1976 album, which marked his return to New York from Los Angeles.

The collection contains 67 audio tracks—including 54 previously unreleased recordings—and 32 video performances, 24 of which are previously unreleased. Notable audio features include the unheard song “Oklahoma,” the audio debut of “Handball,” 1975 performances from San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, piano-and-vocal demos, and abandoned sessions with producer James Guercio.

A main component of the Blu-ray disc is the restored Billy Joel Tonight concert film, recorded in December 1976 at Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. The Blu-ray also includes rehearsal footage, production inserts, rare archival performances, and a Dolby Atmos mix of the original Turnstiles album mixed by Bradshaw Leigh.

The physical box set will be available for purchase starting Dec. 11 following an advance pre-order period. The set features a 40-page hardcover booklet containing unreleased photographs, archival documentation, liner notes by journalist David Fricke, and historical notes by John Jackson.

Legacy Recordings serves as the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, issuing the set in partnership with Columbia Records. John Jackson, who authored historical notes for the release, serves as the director of the Billy Joel Archives and producer of the collection.
