Brandi Carlile has released the full concert film of Be Human: A Concert For Minneapolis on YouTube to mark the event’s six-month anniversary. Recorded at a sold-out show at the Target Center in Minneapolis, the performance was organized in response to ICE activity and local immigration issues.
The concert has raised more than $750,000 to date for The Advocates for Human Rights through Carlile’s Looking Out Foundation. Founded by Carlile alongside bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth, the foundation recently crossed a milestone of $10 million granted to humanitarian causes worldwide.
The film features guest appearances, including a performance of “It’s Okay to Change Your Mind” with Minneapolis’ Singing Resistance. Carlile also joined forces with The Head and the Heart for a rendition of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.” Proceeds from commemorative merchandise sales and YouTube views will continue to support immigrant families through the organization.
Following the concert release, Carlile will publish Returning To Myself (Sad Gay Version) digitally on September 25 through Interscope Records and Lost Highway. The expanded release features reimagined versions of all ten tracks from the original album, including four songs co-produced with Aaron Dessner at Long Pond Studio and a collaboration with Jon Hopkins on the single “Human.”
Carlile is currently performing on the fall leg of The Human Tour, with scheduled dates at venues including Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, and the Moody Center in Austin. She is also set to headline the All Things Go festivals in New York City and Washington, D.C., in September before touring Europe and the U.K. this spring.
