Alley Cat Allies is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in an animal cruelty investigation in Conover, North Carolina. The case involves a cat named Trooper, who was shot with an orange-tipped blowgun dart in June 2026.

Trooper was found injured on June 26 in a parking lot near a golf car shop located at 6576 N NC Hwy 16. Caregivers rescued the cat on July 3, at which point she was transported to a veterinarian for emergency care.

The cat survived surgery to remove the dart from her side and is currently recovering. Alley Cat Allies covered the full cost of Trooper’s medical treatment and continues to oversee her care as the investigation progresses.

The organization is collaborating with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and local veterinarians to identify those responsible for the attack. Program communications officer Coryn Julien stated that the organization is seeking a felony animal cruelty charge and maximum sentencing to deter future acts of violence.
