Technology company Adobe has released its 2026 Creators’ Toolkit Report, which indicates that artificial intelligence tools have become central to the digital creator economy. The global survey of more than 16,000 digital creators found that 87 percent of respondents credit creative AI with accelerating their business or audience growth. Additionally, 75 percent of those surveyed describe the technology as an integrated or essential component of their daily workflow.

The study, conducted in partnership with The Harris Poll across eight countries, shows that while AI increases production speeds, human oversight remains a critical factor. Approximately 93 percent of creators state that AI helps them generate content faster. However, 57 percent note that the initial AI outputs require moderate or extensive editing before they are ready to be published.

The rise of automated content has also changed how creators view competition and individual voice. More than half of the respondents, 53 percent, say a high volume of overall content makes it harder to stand out, while 42 percent point specifically to AI-generated material. Despite these challenges, 58 percent report that AI tools improve their ability to compete against larger production teams and studios.

Looking toward future technologies like agentic AI, which can execute multi-step tasks, creators express a strong desire to maintain editorial control. The report states that 85 percent of creators believe the final creative decision should always remain with the human user. To feel comfortable giving AI systems more independence, 44 percent require the ability to review or undo actions at any point.

Ethical and legal questions regarding transparency and ownership also feature prominently in the 2026 data. While 75 percent of creators believe their audiences can tell when AI is involved, only 49 percent consistently disclose its use. In addition, 90 percent of surveyed creators emphasize the importance of being able to secure copyright protections for work made with AI assistance.
