Brian Cox joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 as series regular

Emmy, Olivier, and Golden Globe winner Brian Cox have joined the cast of the Paramount+ original series “Dexter: Resurrection” for its second season, the streaming service announced Thursday.
Cox will portray “The New York Ripper,” a notorious serial killer who terrorized New York City years prior to the events of the show. While no longer an active killer, the character remains a primary antagonist by taunting the survivors of his historical murder spree.
The casting unites two of television’s most prominent leading men, as Cox—best known for his award-winning turn as Logan Roy in “Succession”—joins SAG and Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall. Hall reprises his titular role as Dexter Morgan in the series, which is led by showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips.
Cox’s extensive career includes a Primetime Emmy for “Nuremberg” and roles in major film franchises including “The Bourne” trilogy and “X2: X-Men United.” He is also scheduled to make his feature directorial debut with “Glenrothan,” arriving in theaters across the United Kingdom and Ireland on April 17.
“Dexter: Resurrection” is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios. Executive producers alongside Phillips and Hall include Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns.
The first season of the revival is currently available to stream on the Paramount+ Premium Plan. Season 2 is expected to continue the expansion of the “Dexter” universe, which remains a cornerstone of the Paramount+ original programming slate.
