Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly will appear onscreen together for the first time in 10 years on an episode of “NCIS: Origins” airing Tuesday, Oct. 20, on CBS. The two actors appeared together on “NCIS” for 13 seasons.

In the episode, Harmon’s character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, returns to NCIS headquarters in Washington, D.C., to ask for help from new director Tony DiNozzo, played by Weatherly. Gibbs was shot by unknown assailants in the “Origins” season premiere on Oct. 6.

Harmon, an executive producer on the series, appears in all episodes of season three as part of a present-day mystery tied to his character’s Camp Pendleton days in the 1990s. Weatherly returned as DiNozzo on “NCIS” beginning with the show’s season 24 premiere on Oct. 6.

The Oct. 20 episode airs at 10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific on CBS and streams on Paramount+. New episodes of season three air Tuesdays at the same time.

The season three premiere was the No. 1 broadcast show in its time period, averaging 4.39 million viewers. That was up 20% from the show’s premiere a year earlier.

“NCIS: Origins” follows a young Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell, in the early 1990s, years before the events of “NCIS.” Harmon narrates the series. The cast also includes Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote.

The season three executive producers are David J. North, Mark Harmon, Sean Harmon, Michele Greco and Eric Christian Olsen. The series is produced by CBS Studios.
