Rock band KISS will release two box sets on November 6 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 album Rock And Roll Over. Pre-orders for the collection are currently available online.
The releases feature brand-new stereo mixes created by original producer and engineer Eddie Kramer using the original analog multi-track tapes. The collection includes unreleased demos, alternate mixes, live tracks, and collectible merchandise.
The original album reached number 11 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and earned platinum certification from the RIAA. It generated two top 20 singles, “Calling Dr. Love” and “Hard Luck Woman.”
To record Rock And Roll Over, the group worked with Kramer in a theater setting to capture a live performance sound without an audience. The upcoming release includes the original 1976 stereo mix remastered by Bernie Grundman.
The collection will be offered as a six-LP vinyl and Blu-ray set or a four-CD and Blu-ray set. Both configurations contain 130 total tracks, including 100 previously unreleased tracks and mixes.
Vault materials in the set feature 22 unreleased demos and outtakes, including nine Gene Simmons demos and an unfinished instrumental titled “Queen For A Day.” The sets also contain live recordings from four 1977 concerts at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, newly mixed by Kramer.
Included with the physical sets is a 104-page hardcover book with unreleased photos, historical imagery, and liner notes by Ken Sharp featuring new interviews with Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eddie Kramer, and Peter Criss. Collectible items in the box set include trading cards, posters, glossy photos, an album cover mobile, magnets, and an enamel pin.
The included Blu-ray Audio disc features Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround mixes of the original 1976 album mix created by David Frangioni. It also includes high-resolution stereo mixes for both the original album and Kramer’s 2026 remix.
