Investigation Discovery has announced The Serial Killer Connection, a three-part docuseries documenting the relationship between a serial killer’s survivor and his former wife. The series begins airing Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time on ID starting October 7, with episodes available to stream on HBO Max.
The docuseries follows survivor Kara Robinson Chamberlain and Bonnie Lou, the ex-wife of serial killer Richard “Marc” Evonitz. Decades after Chamberlain escaped Evonitz’s captivity at age 15, the two women reconnected through a social media trend to examine his past crimes.
Following her escape, Chamberlain worked as a sex crime and child abuse investigator alongside law enforcement. The series chronicles her collaboration with Bonnie Lou as they evaluate unanswered questions and examine potential connections to unsolved cases.
The production explores evidence that includes Evonitz’s personal archives of photographs, notes, newspaper clippings, and collected items. The series also features interviews with law enforcement, fellow survivors, victims’ families, and testimony from Evonitz’s sister regarding family background.
The three-part series will roll out across three consecutive weeks on ID and HBO Max, focusing on the ongoing efforts of both women to investigate new leads related to Evonitz’s movements.
