HBO Max has released the official trailer and key art for the upcoming French original series Paolo. The seven-episode thriller will begin streaming on the platform on September 25.
Created, written, and directed by Sébastien Marnier, the story follows a piano mover named Paolo living in a small provincial town. His life becomes upended after attending a campaign event for Téophane Tolbiac, an ambitious former classmate turned local politician, leading Paolo into an obsessive desire to join the candidate’s inner circle.
Jérôme Niel stars as Paolo alongside Yoann Gasiorowski of the Comédie-Française, who portrays Téophane. The ensemble cast includes Magalie Lépine-Blondeau, Marie Oppert, Léo Chalié, Véronique Ruggia, Guslagie Malanda, Salif Cissé, Françoise Lebrun, Léa Lopez, Philippe Katerine, Guilaine Londez, David Ayala, and Cyril Metzger.
Marnier, whose previous director credits include Faultless, The Origin of Evil, and The King’s Children, co-wrote the series alongside Juliette Soubrier.
The project is produced by Floriane Cortes and Gaspard de Chavagnac through Mintee Productions and Asacha Media Group, a Fremantle company.
